Maintenance of generators in a building

When people talk about building maintenance in Melbourne they usually tend to forget that the generators in the building need maintenance as well. Moreover, you must also know that preventative maintenance is better than damage repair and replacement of the equipment. It is very important to keep the generators in their pristine conditions so that in case of a power outage, your business doesn’t come to a halt and you can still work and enhance your business as always. The generators should be maintained to an extent where they manage to start up within just a minute of a power out. Otherwise, your business will suffer and eventually you will have to spend money on the replacement of the generators.

If you are responsible for the maintenance of the generators in your building but you don’t have much knowledge about it, then here is a small checklist that can help you with all the maintenance work:

• You must know that the radiator in any machinery should be working to its optimal level. If the radiator is not working properly, then it would decrease the performance of the entire generator.

 • There are fuel filters in every generator that make sure that only the best fuel goes through and no impurities manage to scrape through to the engine. In order to keep the engine functioning to the best of its ability, it is important that you change those filters annually.

 • If there is any sign or corrosion on the battery connections, then you should wash them with warm water. There must not be any corrosion or the battery terminals will get damaged.

The charging system will not work as efficiently and eventually your generator will have a lot of problem starting up on time and working for the required period of time.
